Very likely a true story.
Recently, a guy went to a restaurant for a meal. His waiter was wearing an Obama for President sticker. When the man paid his food bill, he told the waiter that he wanted to "spread the wealth around", and would take the tip, originally planned for the waiter, and would give it to a homeless person sitting outside the restaurant. When the waiter heard of this, he became very angry, as he was the one who had "earned" that tip. When the man delivered the tip money to the homeless person, on behalf of the waiter to whom it was intended, the homeless man thanked the patron for his generosity.
Who is happy here?

Egg Salad? Or Hot Dogs with Eggs?
Commentary from one of my favorite foodies.
The staggering thought of combining a bucket of hot dogs with dozens of eggs plus Miracle Whip plus mayo stopped me cold. (Incidentally, Miracle Whip is classified as a salad dressing, made with cooked starch, vinegar, sugar and some veg. oil--mayo is make with a minimum of 80% veg. oil with eggs, vinegar, spices). To me, Miracle Whip is repugnant so that added to how bizzare this is--I couldn't bring myself to read all about the prep and talk of someone actually consuming the result. Going to school in PA, there was exposure to the wonderful Amish folk.
This has got to be some hoax concocted by the Obama people!!
Recipe below -- enjoy...

Thinking About Loved Ones
Another post for me. It has been a while since I thought about posting. Life moves fast and is so short. When you think that you have time, you really do not. Loved ones are gone faster than you can imagine and we never have enought time with them. Left behind is the outgoing message on their cell phone, some pretty pictures, and some wonderful memories.
Sadly, you cannot touch, kiss, or talk to the memories. But they do remain and bring us strength if we let them. Make the memories that you always wanted to make and live them as long as you can.
Missing Her...

The New Mac--Drinking the Koolaid?
It arrived today. The FedEx ground person threw it over the fence because we were not home to sign for the package. Actually, we authorized the delivery to our back yard. As promised, we were plugged in and operating within a few minutes. However, operating/driving the computer is not as intuitive as the MSFT system has come to be. It is taking some time to solve. At this point, I am able to find my way around, but a few curious set-ups remain. Hopefully, this will be solved in a few days. As for my kids, I am not sure that they will have it as easy. They are smart though, so they should have no problem finding a way to assure that the Mac will not function properly.
As for not functioning properly, my wife did attempt to log into our work system remotely. This resulted in a computer freeze that lasted for five minutes until we shut the program down through the Apple version of control-alt-delete. We called the top notch help desk. As usual, they had not clue and were unable to offer any solution. Maybe tomorrow at work there will be an answer.
One more note, under the guise of Christmas fun, my sister's cynical brother in law is seeking to take family pictures. He is doing this so that he can make fun of us. Not his immediate family so we become easy targets. Damn you Jeff...you are evil. John told me so.

Jury Duty
Oh boy, the fun never stops at jury duty, the people you see. Jury of peers...please define peers. Mostly the jury seems to be comprised of two types of people:
- folks who have nothing better to do
- folks who have something better to do but would rather be doing jury duty than doing that which they should be doing.
Within those groups, the most common character you find is the typical "nerd-guy, funny man." Usually, this person falls within group 2, but there is some cross-over. Easy to spot because there he always has a comment (generally not funny) followed by a laugh (usually his own - but sometimes from another nerd-guy that has hooked up with him). Not a pretty picture to be sure.
Sadly, these are the types who are generally selected to serve. They punish the other jurors and impact the outcome of the deliberation due to the fact that most everyone wants to be out of their presence as soon as they are able: all in favor --- sure, anything to get us out of here.

A Little Music for Lovin'
I have always enjoyed this touching ballad. It reminds me of home. Please have a great weekend.

Wandering Thru the Yard
While visiting the new home that I am constructing, I noticed a curious happening: numerous children/students began to parade through my home site in order to get to the next neighborhood. I do not know if they are too lazy thus they seek to avoid walking around the block to get to their homes or whether they are simply too embarrassed to have the bus deliver them to their own neighborhood? Either way, I fear this will have to stop. Not due to fitness training or self esteem classes, but I will be fencing the yard and will not provide a key. Stay on the bus or find another neighbor. Oh, to be young again.
Speaking of young again -- great news, it will still require a 60% "yes" vote in the fair state of WA to pass a school maintenance or operations levy to increase my (or anyone's) property taxes. What happened to the legislature taking some responsibility for funding education for all children of the state. The weasels in Oly want to reject accountability for their jobs. Can the legislature fund a band teacher without the need to sell chocolate bars or discount tickets to an overpriced restaurant for which I already received the discount coupons in the mail? Not fair -- The wealthy or gullible districts pass a levy and get additional "staffing, teaching supplies, textbooks, library books, transportation, extracurricular programs, and a portion of ... after school programs."* The poor districts live without or resort to selling cookie dough for the band or wrestling team or all of the things that the legislature won't fund. Me thinks this stinks.
Have a nice day.
